Reviews for Jon Robyns in the UK tour of The Wedding Singer 15.02.2017
Jon Robyns opened in the UK tour of The Wedding Singer at the Curve Leicester yesterday evening. Jon captivated theatre critics with his original portrayal of the character Robbie Hart, a role that Adam Sandler made famous in the 1998 star-studded film.
This production marks a hat-trick for Jon at the theatre, having previously starred in Legally Blonde and Sister Act.
'Jon Robyns lends the title character wit and vulnerability in equal measure, in which he finds himself jilted but still having to entertain happy couples celebrating their wedding day. Robyns has long been a West End stalwart but here he happily moves into a league of leading players in the Killian Donnelly mould of seemingly unassuming men who have powerhouse singing, acting and dancing credentials.' - The Stage
'As Robbie, the titular wedding singer with a roller coaster love life, Robyns shows off his pedigree as a classy triple threat, singing, dancing and acting with consistent panache and is never less than totally watchable.' - WhatsOnStage
'Leads Robbie Hart and Julia Sullivan, played by Jon Robyns and Cassie Compton are polished, sweet and endearing. Well suited to their roles, they grow on you very quickly. You are certainly rooting for the characters to get together as the show goes on.' - At The Theatre
