Biography

Andy Bloom was born in Birmingham and attended Sutton Coldfield College, graduating in Media Studies.

Since 2005, Andy has been concentrating on his professional screen-writing career and after writing a series of shorts, Joe & The Stone, SvankGangster, The Stage Hands Play, Scary Monkey and Glorious Dawn, he went on to write and direct the short film, The Night Breeze, which was chosen for the BBC Big Screen Festival and toured throughout the UK in 2006. The Night Breeze also screened on Propeller TV (SKY).

Andy’s first full-length screenplay, The Apprentice, was chosen as one of the Top Ten scripts at the International Screenwriters Festival 2007. The years 2007 to 2009 has seen the completion of the feature screenplays Tortoise, Who Are Ya? and the ghost story, Old Bones. Additionally, November 2009 saw the completion of the short film version of his feature screenplay Tortoise, which Andy wrote and directed. The short has been screening throughout 2010 where it has been nominated for Best Short at The East End Film Festival, and also for the Anthony Minghella Award for Best UK Short.

Andy has directed music videos for rising stars, Soho Dolls and Jake Morley. Most recently Andy has been commissioned to write the feature screenplay Safe by Control Films
